The Arches

The unique place for a ceremony or an intimate celebration, this barn was once the drying shed for the mill. The big, open arches and ‘airing holes’ allowed air to circulate through and dry the hanging sheaves of cut grain before it was sent to the water powered threshing machine.

Now The Arches is a warm and inviting area where you can look out on the pond through the glassed in ‘airing holes’ or wander through the double doors onto the large over-the-water deck and enjoy the calm of the pond. With a wood burning stove at one end, The Arches allows you to feel a part of the whole yard while providing that quiet place to spend time with friends.

The Main Barn

The place for gathering all your guests for a celebration, the Main Barn can seat up to 140 guests for a meal. The large glassed windows covering most of one wall allow you to feel that you can be a part of the whole yard. The charming stone wall opposite the glassed windows gives you the space to display your own designs for your special day.

Following your festive meal, the main barn can be transformed into the perfect party area. A large wooden floor invites you to ‘dance the night away’!

The Mill Pond

There are three different small bridges that will lead you across the small, rambling run of water and onto a path around the mill pond. This path lets you stroll beside the flowing water, gaze across the pond at Riverdale Barn’s beautiful stone buildings, and walk past trees and delicate flora along the water’s edge.

A very special feature at Riverdale Barn can be found through the small door from The Arches. This door will lead you over the mill run to a spot where you can examine the old water wheel. From that point you may carefully pick your way across fantastic large stepping stones that are a part of the overflow for the mill pond itself. The old buildings, combined with the beauty of the once working mill pond, bring all that is Riverdale Barn together, highlighting nature in one spot.

The Courtyard

Adjacent to the covered walkway between the Main Barn and The Arches you will find a quaint seating area. Whether you choose to sit under cover or with the open sky above, you are near the double doors to the Bar and beside the two barns. It is the perfect place for afternoon music, and the spot to gather and relax with friends in the intimate heart of the yard.

Just off the Courtyard can be found a small raised water pool that is a unique feature in the area beside the necessities barn. The beautiful wall along the side of this enclosure contains a door similar to one that might lead to a secret garden. It does, in fact, lead you to two of the small bridges crossing to the path around the pond.
